Apple & Onion Beer Braised Pork Chops

Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp. bacon drippings or oil
  • 4 center cup pork chops, bone-in
  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 cups lager beer
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350ยบ F.
  2. Trim chops of any excess fat.
  3. In a large skillet over medium high heat, add bacon drippings, or oil, and brown chops. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
  4. Add sliced garlic, sliced onions and sliced apples and saute until golden brown. Set aside.
  5. Melt butter in same skillet and add flour. Cook for about 1 minute.
  6. Add beer and bring to a simmer, scraping up any brown bits. Cook over medium heat until slightly thickened.
  7. Add back in garlic, onions, and apples. Put pork chops on top.
  8. Spoon gravy over pork chops and apple and onions, cover and bake at 350 degrees F. for one hour.
