Around the 4th of July I went through a peach phase, a serious peach phase. We got an ice cream machine which meant peach ice cream had to be made. I also made peach BBQ sauce, grilled peaches … and the recipe below, peach dumplings. This is a direct take on the apple dumplings recipe over at The Pioneer Woman. I had made the apple recipe once before and let me tell you, it’s very addictive. It’s incredible warm with vanilla ice cream on top, or homemade peach ice cream … have it the next day for breakfast, I had it all ways.
For this go ’round I decided to use peaches because I had two that would have gone bad otherwise. I was making the dish to take over for a visit some dear friends and peach won out over apple, peach was their favorite.
Peaches. Apples. Pears. Whatever. Try this recipe. Did I mention that the final ingredient that sets this thing OFF is Mountain Dew??? Yep. Mountain Dew. GET SOME!!! And make this recipe.
- 2 whole peaches
- 2 cans (8 Oz.) crescent rolls
- 2 sticks Butter
- 1-1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Cinnamon, to taste
- 1 can (12 Oz.) Mountain Dew Soda
- Preheat oven to 350º F.
- Peel and pit peaches. Cut each peach into 8 slices/segments. Roll each peach slice/segment in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan.
- Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir, mixture should still be granular. Add vanilla, stir, and pour entire mixture over apples.
- Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake for 40-45 minutes.
- Let cool 5-10 minutes before serving, dish will be very hot.
